Howdy,
Today starts the cutting of the second crop of hay. The first crop was extroadinarily productive after a wet spring. I was able to harvest nearly three times the crop as all of last year. Therefore I've decided to sell the second crop standing in the field. It's quite dry now but we had a little rain in the last 24 hours. Work will continue to weed the pumpkins, squash and gourds in preparation for the fall season and our annual pumpkin patch. I've come to really appreciate the work my dad did around this place prior to his death last summer. I still haven't figured out how he did it all. Many times in the 367 days since his passing I've just had to stop in the seemingly endless succession of chores and field work to just pray for guidance and energy to see it through. Despite years of training under dad I realize how ill-prepared I was to assume this all myself. I've only made it through with the help of Robin and her endless hours in the barn during lambing season and the help of other family and friends who show up now and then to help clean up some of the details.
